Stephen Baker Awarded OBE in King's Birthday Honours List スティーブン・ベーカーJSA会長がOBE（大英帝国勲章オフィサー）を受章
We are delighted to share that Stephen Baker, Chairman of the Japan Scotland Association (JSA), has been named in the 2025 King's Birthday Honours List, published on 14 June 2025, and has been awarded an OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire). This honour recognises his 18 years of service promoting and supporting trade and investment between Japan and Scotland.
The Order of the British Empire is part of the UK's national honours system, awarded by His Majesty The King to individuals who have made significant contributions in fields such as public service, the arts, business, and international relations. The OBE is one of the most widely recognised of these honours. While it does not confer a title such as "Sir" or "Dame," it reflects a high level of contribution to public life.
Stephen has commented:
"While I am honoured to receive this award personally, I see it as a reflection of the many valued friendships and professional partnerships I have been fortunate to share over the years. I am especially grateful for the work of the Japan Scotland Association and the ongoing commitment of its members to strengthening the ties between our two countries."
Stephen continues to serve as Chairman of the Japan Scotland Association, as well as in his role as the Scottish Government's Trade and Investment Envoy to Japan, an honorary position to which he was appointed in October 2024.
日本スコットランド交流協会（JSA）の会長を務めるスティーブン・ベーカー氏が、2025年6月14日付の英国国王陛下誕生日叙勲リスト（King's Birthday Honours List）において、OBE（大英帝国勲章オフィサー）を受章されました。この叙勲は、日本とスコットランドの間の貿易および投資促進に18年間取り組んできた功績に対して授与されたものです。
「大英帝国勲章（Order of the British Empire）」は、英国王室より授与される国家的な叙勲制度の一部であり、文化、ビジネス、公共サービス、国際関係など、社会において顕著な貢献を果たした個人に授与されます。OBE（オフィサー）はこの中でもよく知られた栄誉のひとつであり、「Sir」や「Dame」といった称号は伴いませんが、その貢献度の高さを示すものです。
スティーブン・ベーカー氏からのコメント：
「このような個人的な栄誉をいただいたことは大変光栄ですが、これまでに築いてきた多くの友情や協力関係の成果でもあると感じております。とくに、日本スコットランド交流協会とその会員の皆様による両国の絆を深める継続的なご尽力に、深く感謝申し上げます。」
ベーカー氏は引き続き、JSA会長としての活動に加え、2024年10月にスコットランド政府より任命された「対日貿易・投資エンヴォイ」としても活躍しています。
